Edupoint Expands Presence in Georgia with Gwinnett County Public Schools’ Selection of Synergy

Edupoint® Educational Systems, a leading student information systems (SIS) provider for the national K-12 market, will deliver its Synergy® Education Platform to Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) for implementation across all campus and administration offices.  Part of an overarching technology migration led by IBM Global Business Services, Edupoint will replace the district’s aging legacy system in phases over the next three years.

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) serves more than 174,000 students in the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta.  As the largest school system in the state, GCPS takes its collection of and responsibility for student data very seriously.  The Request for Proposal for Gwinnett’s new SIS system – which was thorough in its comparison of prospective vendors across a broad range of performance, operational, support, and financial data points – totaled 1,400 functional requirements.

The Synergy Education Platform proposal met 94% of the district’s requirements and was asked to substantiate its proposal through a series of laboratory performance tests.   As expected, Gwinnett’s performance parameters were daunting and exceeded all prior Edupoint client requests.  Also, as expected, Synergy performed as promised.

“We are extremely proud to partner with IBM Global Business Services to support Gwinnett County Public Schools’ selection and implementation of the Synergy Education Platform,” said Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO of Edupoint.  “The district will benefit from the dedication and support of two world-class organizations as they utilize Synergy’s functionality to help improve student success.  We look forward to longstanding partnerships with both organizations and to continued growth throughout Georgia.”

Gwinnett has licensed the entire Synergy Education Platform, including the newest Online Registration modules.  Importantly, Edupoint will train the Gwinnett IT staff in the use of Synergy® Technology (ST), the platform’s rapid application development and framework tools.  Using Synergy ST, Gwinnett will be able to build new functionality, customize reports, and integrate other applications and databases to meet their unique requirements, as well as new requirements in the future. Implementation has begun and will roll out according to a carefully prepared timeline over the three years.
