A Technology Framework That Evolves With Your District
Synergy Technology (ST) is the framework that powers Synergy SIS and the entire Synergy Education Platform. Built on a solid Microsoft .NET foundation, Synergy is designed to meet the challenges of large K-12 school districts while easily supporting the needs of smaller districts. ST provides superior performance and reliability as well as unmatched extensibility, scalability and supportability – so you can be confident that as your district’s needs grow, Synergy will grow along with you.
Synergy is a commercial-off-the-shelf solution, with pre-defined functionality to get districts started quickly. As a true web application, Synergy can be accessed from anywhere, 24/7, with any standard web browser.
ST provides a consistent user interface and reports throughout so it’s easy to learn and use, minimizing ramp-up time for new users and lowering training costs.
Hover functionality accelerates navigation and simplifies access to information. Users can bookmark frequently visited screens and launch any screen, report or process by typing just a few characters into the Quick Launch box.
Any field can be searched from any Synergy screen for speedy and accurate results.
New Synergy features are introduced with a series of pop-up boxes that explain how to use them. Districts can also create their own pop-up boxes to point out specific features and customizations to their users.
With Synergy’s single, centralized database, data is entered once and populates instantly throughout the platform. The one-database approach saves time for every user – including busy IT staff – by eliminating the need for duplicate data entry, data synchronization and integrations.
The ST framework is built for maximum flexibility to match the needs of any district. Customizations can be applied instantly districtwide without disrupting logged-in users, and are protected in new releases.
Field labels, drop-down and checkbox selections, and goal and statement libraries can be changed to match language or options used in the district. User-defined fields and screens may be added throughout Synergy, and existing fields can be repurposed or removed to improve the user experience.
Synergy architecture is highly scalable to support districts with any number of users, from the smallest districts to the largest.
Custom workflows work the way you do. Define every step of your district’s specific processes, with decision points, role definition, role assignments, timeline enforcement, and individual user task lists. Notifications help keep users on track through multi-step workflows.
The ST Development Toolkit license enables districts to author custom applications to further extend functionality.
It’s your data, and you should be able to use it whenever and however you want. ST gives you the data access you need, with robust reporting and easy sharing.
A simple-to-use data inquiry tool enables Synergy users to search and analyze any data within Synergy without the need for advanced technical skills. Queries can be created from anywhere in the system and used to generate reports to save, print or share. Data may also be displayed in graphical dashboards to be shared with other users. Queries can be saved and made available for districtwide use.
Synergy users can graph the data for any field with a single click.
Synergy reports run quickly and seamlessly without impacting system performance. Synergy can generate multi-level reports or add filters to report interfaces for complex data sets or deeper insights. Scope may be limited to an individual school, broadened to the entire district, or set to cover a specific group of schools. Reports can be scheduled for email delivery or output to your choice of file types and automatically saved to a network path.
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is an industry standard reporting tool with robust graphing capabilities and the power to output drill-down reports for deeper data access. SSRS reports can be built, scheduled, and emailed to stakeholders all within the familiar Synergy interface. Synergy fully supports the entire SSRS feature set, so districts can run existing SSRS reports without modification.
Protecting our customers’ sensitive data is a top priority at Edupoint. ST provides the highest level of privacy and security in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA requirements, with full field-level security systemwide.
ST enables districts to quickly implement a global security model while fine-tuning security settings down to the level of fields and individual users. Security and access restrictions are defined once and automatically applied systemwide, including application views, systems reports and queries, and extend beyond the base product to customizations.
ST can be set to track every change made by every user, in detail.
The single, centralized database underlying Synergy simplifies data restoration in the event of hardware failure.
Data insights are only as good as the data from which they are derived, so ST includes safeguards to preserve data integrity and eliminate redundancies platformwide.
Domain business objects ensure that data validations and district-specific business rules are enforced every time the business object is accessed.
ST requires users to enter the correct type of data in each field to ensure data integrity, such as only allowing numerals in a numeric field.
Any field can be marked as mandatory to require user input.
Automatic data import and extraction enables seamless integration with third-party solutions such as transportation or food service programs.
Any Synergy system data may be extracted for use by third-party applications. Extractions may be scheduled to run automatically at convenient intervals – such as nightly.
One-time or infrequent extracts may be performed on an ad hoc basis as needed.
Extracts may be generated in a variety of industry standard file formats including CSV, TXT, XLS and XML.
Automated data imports are fully supported.
Extend Synergy’s value by licensing the ST framework and Synergy application source code so you can enhance existing modules and rapidly develop custom applications to match your district’s specific needs.
With an ST license, developers get access to the Synergy database, security, navigation, consistent user interface (UI), graphical user interface (GUI) designer, integrated report writer, organizational hierarchy, workflow management, ad hoc query and many other features.
Make broad customizations within Synergy as your district evolves over time, reducing your dependence on Edupoint and associated technical support costs.
Wyoming Public Schools was looking for an SIS solution that could match the functionality of their previous system, which the district had heavily customized over 20 years of use. Learn how the district found what it needed in Synergy Technology.
